Short Course Description

How are social changes generated? How and why do people become social activists? What can be learned from people who have established social enterprises?
The course focuses on social entrepreneurs who have established non-profit social initiatives in recent years and thus influenced the character of society in Israel. During the course students will learn about the various theories on the subject of social entrepreneurship and will get to know different types of activism - political, educational, and environmental. The students will learn to differentiate between for-profit social organizations and non-profit organizations and will delve into the unique challenges facing social entrepreneurs. The central perspective of the course stems from the individual's place in the creation of social change in a changing world.
During the course, students will meet activists and entrepreneurs, and will invest 25 hours in formulating a tool to encourage social entrepreneurship that provides exposure to the field and preliminary tools.
The course is based on lectures, guest lectures by key figures in the field of social entrepreneurship and films.
