Short Course Description

Ge?ez is an ancient Ethio-Semitic language which is no longer spoken but is an important liturgical language for the Ethiopian Orthodox church as well as for Ethiopian Jews. Ge?ez holds an important place not only for research of history and culture of Ethiopia but also in the field of Semitic linguistics.
In this course the phonology, morphology and syntax of Ge?ez are dealt with in detail. In addition, students will read and analyze intermediate and advanced texts of Ge?ez.
