Short Course Description

The course will deal with the planning and execution of logistical activities aimed at alleviating human suffering, while learning how to take into account the unique considerations of humanitarian environments. Examples include environments of sudden catastrophic events or ongoing crises. The course will open with an introduction to the world of humanitarian logistics; In the following, four test cases typical of the relevant fields of activity will be presented, both from an academic angle of researchers who dealt with the optimization problems in the background of the activity, and by guest lecturers from the aid bodies.
