Short Course Description

Prerequisites: Introduction to modern optics and electro-optics
Electric field and polarization, susceptibility of an anharmonic classic oscillator, centro and non centro-symetric materials, the susceptibility tensor; wave equation in nonlinear media; phase matching; double refraction; nonlinear phase shift; high harmonics generation; parametric amplification; parametric oscillators; electro-optic effect ? modulators, switches, filters; Kerr effect; self phase modulation and focusing ; spatial solitons; Raman and Brillouin scattering; nonlinear effects in fibers
