Short Course Description

The course will include lectures and practical labs.

The laboratory forms the basis for advanced molecular laboratories which include microbiology, genetic' immunology, and cell biology. No final exam

The lab encompasses basic molecular biology techniques.
During the course, students will be exposed to various processes from gene structure transient expression in plants, analysis of promoters, creation of engineered plants, and genetic editing of target genes using CRISPR

1. Created genes for expression in plants, stable expression, and transient expression in plants
2. Introduction of genes (transformation) into plants, reported genes, and selective markers.
3. Genomic editing using the CRISPR method
4. Molecular genetics of transgenic plants
5. Use of mutants ? as a tool for understanding the processes of development in Arabidopsis as a model plant
6. Regulation of gene expression by characterizing fused promotors into reported genes

Grade composition: 80% Lab report 20% instructor assessment and exams during the lab.
