Short Course Description
Biological membranes and the organization of proteins in them, both receptors and proteins involved in signaling or structural proteins, are of major importance in signal transduction, and play important roles in developmental process, hormonal signal transduction, interactions between cells and viruses, and multiple diseases. The aim of the course is to present to the students the membrane structure and the organization of proteins in the membrane, with emphasis of biophysical methods to measure the organization and motion of proteins and lipids in the membrane, and include relevant examples from a variety of biological systems.
