Short Course Description

The course gives students in the ecology and zoology tracks diverse tools to assist them during their MSc studies (and beyond), including talks, exercises, and guidance in writing and presenting their research proposal. The first few meetings will deal with topics such as expectations from the research project and coursework, time management, preparing and delivering scientific posters and presentations, and guidance for writing the research proposal. The remaining meetings will be dedicated to presentations of the research proposals by the students.
The main assignments in the course are submission of the written research proposal and its presentation to the class and to faculty members. As part of the course, students will receive feedback on their written and oral research proposals from faculty members other than their academic supervisors, and hear about the diversity of studies and methods used in ecological and zoological research.
